Hop Tile
A single hop flower hangs from a cluster of symmetrical vines. Above it a group of four leaves add flavour and balance to the design. This tile is nicely framed by a raised edge around the whole image.
A lover of craft beer commissioned this from us as a piece of art to be framed and hung on his wall. He brought the rough concept to us, and we refined it to add a bit of symmetry and balance. We used a custom faux-lead glaze that we mix by hand. As a lover of craft beer myself, I made one for my house, and gave one to our local pub to hang up.
This is a very thick tile. The listed thickness does not include the relief or the “frame” around the image. Including these elements brings the overall thickness to 1.9cm (3/4”).
This tile is emblematic of all our thick tiles. We carve grooves into the back to help with grout adhesion if the tile is being set. We also carve a small notch centred near the top of the tile so that it can be easily hung on a hook or screw.
